Country songs of Nashville on Billboard’s Hot 100 list

Sometimes we like to check out Billboard online and put up a listing of the country songs of Nashville, which we find on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. The following listing for the week of August 22, 2015 includes some that we’re not really sure are country, but also includes our favorite young female singer, Taylor Swift. Although Taylor Swift is actually no longer considered to be in the country genre, we wanted to include her anyway, just for the fun of it,. We are missing her a lot on the country radio airwaves around Nashville, except when they play some of her older songs.

We see that (relative) country new-comer Sam Hunt is on the list two times at #31 and again at #45. Two of our favorites to hear on our favorite Nashville-area radio station these days are #76 ‘Burning House’ and #77 ‘Fly’. Another one which we are hearing a lot of is #48, ‘Buy Me A Boat” and we predict it’s going on up the line.

Several old favorites are among the Nashville singers listed, including Luke Bryan, Blake Shelton, and Kenny Chesney, along with Keith Urban and Jason Aldean. We would like to see more women on the list of country artists, and perhaps we’ll be seeing more in the near future, as we seem to be missing those well-known names of Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Reba. Oh for the good old golden ladies of Nashville’s days of hot country songs when Loretta and Tammy and Dottie and Dolly, then Trisha, Patty, Susie and The Judds, or later, Wynonna, Martina and Faith were all among the most popular singers with all of the songs we loved.
