Mama read her Bible

mama read her Bible
to us all (to us all)
she’d say
gather round me, children,
both big and small
let me read to you of
God’s love and his
saving grace
he will be there in Heaven
waiting on you
when you leave this place
Mama read to us of Joseph
(and she) read to us of John
she read to us of Jesus
and how he was born

she told how God’s son
gave to us his all
for the sins of man (the sins of man)
so we would not fall
now mama is gone on
to her just reward
and we know, yes, we know
(just what) she is waiting for
she wants to see her children,
when they come on along
that’s why, that’s why
I’m singing this song
Mama, i’m coming to be with you
(seated) at the hand of God
coming to see
those streets of gold you trod
coming to be joyous
