#ThrowbackThursday with PHILLYBILLY at The Bluebird Cafe!

PHILLYBILLY are hit-making singer/songwriters Richard Fagan (C), Joe Collins (L) andKacey Jones (R). They’ve been writing and harmonizing together since 1995.

Some Background:
RICHARD FAGAN: Originally from Philadelphia, PA (hence, the name “Phillybilly”) Fagan’s first cut as a songwriter was “The Good Lord Loves You” by Neil Diamond (1980). Rich moved to Nashville in 1985. His songs can be heard in 6 feature films and on more than 25 million records. He’s had three #1 Country singles; “Be My Baby Tonight” “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)” and “I Miss You a Little,” all recorded by John Michael Montgomery (Atlantic). Fagan’s songs have also been recorded by George Strait, George Jones, Hank Williams, Jr. Shania Twain, Clay Walker, Patty Loveless, Collin Raye, Ricochet, Shenandoah, The Crickets, Jason & The Scorchers, The Blues Brothers Band and many others.

KACEY JONES: Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Jones moved to Nashville on the wings of a hit she co-wrote for Mickey Gilley called, “I’m The One Mama Warned You About.” Arriving in Music City, she formed the hip, cult-trio, “Ethel and The Shameless Hussies” who were almost immediately signed to MCA Records. They appeared on Entertainment Tonight and were lauded by the likes of People Magazine and USA Today. In 1997, Miss Jones recorded a live comedy-and-music CD for Curb Records called, “Men Are Some of My Favorite People.” Along the way she also produced a #1 album for legendary Texas author and songwriter, Kinky Friedman. Her original songs can be heard in the hit cult film “Sordid Lives” starring Beau Bridges, Olivia Newton-John, and Leslie Jordan (directed by Del Shores). Kacey songs have been recorded by David Allan Coe, Cledus T. Judd, and Ethel and The Shameless Hussies. She has recorded nine albums to date, including the critically acclaimed, “Kacey Jones Sings Mickey Newbury.”

JOE COLLINS: Originally from Washington, D.C.. Joe Collins’ songs have been recorded by Rascal Flatts, Randy Travis, Billy Ray Cyrus, Lee Brice, Chris Ledoux, Andy Griggs, Cledus T. Judd, Dixiana, The Whites, Jett Williams, Kacey Jones, Margo Smith, Randy Kohrs, and many others. As a keyboard player, Joe spent years traveling the country and the world performing with Tom T. Hall. He’s also done stints with Rodney Atkins, Pualette Carlson, Michael White, and others. Most recently he’s been a member of The Drifting Cowboys (for many years alongside legendary steel guitar player, Don Helms), performing with Jett Williams.
