Karen said: “Some of you know that I designed and am the Director for, the Frank Brown International Songwriters Festival In-school Educational Outreach program. The program has grown considerably over the last few years, and is once again, enjoying growth! For that reason, I am proud to announce that I’ve added Perry J Bonck as an official instructor for the program. This year marks Perry’s first year as a guest songwriter in the festival, but he has volunteered as an assistant for the FBISF In-School Outreach Program for the past several years, helping to bring this unique and valuable educational experience to students in Gulf Coast area schools.
With vocal comparisons to Ronnie Dunn, Tim McGraw and Randy Travis, Americana Singer Songwriter, Perry J Bonck, sings with passion and writes with emotion. Born in New Orleans and now residing in the mountains of East Tennessee, Perry grew up surrounded by music. From the Cajun fiddle tunes and Bourbon Street blues of his home town, he was exposed to a community that percolated with rhythm, and learned by the side of a guitar playing Uncle, who introduced Perry to the power of the traditional country ballad. This path led to a love of songs with great stories and being heavily influenced by varied artists from James Taylor, to Hank Williams, Sr., to the Beatles. It also led Perry Bonck to know one thing: he wanted to write and sing songs that said something.
After retiring at a young age as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force, Perry Bonck has become a popular performer at a variety of venues from Knoxville, to Nashville to NOLA, and has chalked up some impressive accolades, such as reaching the Number One spot in the Folk category for his song, ‘Just An Old Guitar’ on the OurStage music charts, as well as, numerous Top 10 placements in Folk and Country. Other awards include: Winner of Princess Cruise Lines ‘Pop Star’ Competition, Finalist in the Rising Star of Tennessee Artist Contest, and Winner of Tennessee’s Got Talent.
An accomplished sound technician, he is the creator and host for the high profile, ‘Fleur de Lis Acoustic Series’, and has presented award winning songwriters and artists such as Max T. Barnes, Suzy Ragsdale, Sally Barris, Don Henry, Blue Moon Rising, Robert K. Wolf, Wynn Varble, Larry Cordle and Jerry Salley, often sharing the stage with many of these fine artists.
Perry Bonck has two independent releases on the market to date: ‘Just An Old Guitar’, produced by Award Winning Singer Songwriter, Karen E. Reynolds, and ‘Heart Of a Cowboy’, produced by well known Producer, Songwriter and Instrumentalist, Scott Neubert. These projects include self penned originals as well as, co-writes with Karen E. Reynolds, Scott Neubert and Robert K. Wolf, amongst others.
I congratulate Perry on becoming part of the Frank Brown extended family, and I’m certain he will be a tremendous asset. I look forward to working with him on this great program.
